Since early January 2026, David has been working at the Harry Brookes Allen Anatomy Museum, drawing directly from the preserved anatomical specimens in the collection. The project began with a loose focus on the brain, reflecting David’s long-standing interest in neurological structures and his lived experience of neurodiversity and disability.
David has previously made drawings inside galleries, sketching artworks on display that challenge the usual dynamics of looking in museums. Working in the anatomy museum shifts this idea further, from challenging the gaze to being inside an archive of bodies. Through drawing, David creates a different kind of encounter with these specimens, one that is attentive, reflective and personal. These images are a selection of sketches that will be developed through scale, colour and layering.
