A Permanent Rebirth are inkjet prints of a bone window CT scan of the artists’ brain, with hand sewn embellishments. The repetitive action of sewing symbolises artistic agency and represents the artist’s lived experience of hypoxic brain damage. Each perforation and stitch reinterprets renewed perspectives through and around orbital tissues, the temporal bone and carotid canal. As a neurodiverse artist, David draws on his personal experiences of hospitalisation and concepts based in scientific paradigms. David’s interdisciplinary practice includes portraiture, drawing, personal writing, data and methods of layering, through intuitive processes that allow meander and experimentation.
